Looking to help make this race a success? Please volunteer for a morning or afternoon shift on one of the race days. The Road Race will require the largest number of volunteers, but we need people for a variety of positions for every day. Volunteers will be fed, provided transportation and rewarded as much as possible. Please email volunteer@bikesteamboat.com along with your name, phone, and the days/shifts you can be available. I know race day is still a long way out, but we need to be sure we have enough people to volunteer in order to make the race safe.
Starting immediately we need:
• Volunteer coordinator - Organize the pre race volunteer training and race day volunteer activities.
• Ceremonies Director - Plan the daily awards and banquet.
• Cycling Expo/Kids Race - Plan the expo area and kids race for Monday's criterium.
• Course logistics directors - Help plan logistics for the courses leading up to race day. Where do we need safety equipment, where will marshalls be placed, etc.
For the race days we need the following. Shifts include Fri 3-8pm, Sat AM/PM, Sun AM/PM, Monday AM/PM.
• Support Vehicle Drivers - This includes lead vehicles ahead of races, follow vehicles with neutral support, and misc support vehicles. Motorcycles would also be excellent.
•Course Marshalls - Stationed around the course, you direct cyclists, traffic and ensure safety. Most of our courses have limited to no traffic, so it will be mainly making sure motorists don't get confused. A few will also need to be flaggers at the turnarounds for the road race. This is a critical position and we need upwards of 35 to 40 people for this.
• Course Crew - Show up early before each stage and/or come after each stage to put in place safety equipment, signs, etc. This position would work for people that want to race and volunteer.
• Mr. Moots - Someone to wear the Mr. Moots costume on the final climb. Postion requires ability to taunt riders and run hill repeats in hot sun.
